This book gradually steps through important sections of analysis in RF design and works its way up to amplifiers, oscillators and mixers.I bought this book without fully knowing a large number of founding concepts of RF theory. there are NO beaded flowers in the book, so I question if the reviewer was reviewing the correct book. But old grandpa did have to read the pictures and look at the words before wrapping it up and shipping it off. The book was in fact "new", in completely pristine condition. Slater has a dramatic, deep, troubled and honest way of looking and remembering. I am getting so much out of this book. But every once in a while a book comes along that includes unique and clear-headed thinking and writing. Ludwig presented the material in this fasion in his RF design classes at Worcester Polytech, in good old Atwater-Kent Errors may be present in some of his examples, but many high level textbooks contain errors especially in early editions; my class pointed out many as we were the first group to be taught from the book and hopefully they will be corrected in a later edition. Instead, I found a deeply moving story of the author's painful childhood and adolescence. Leopold was a rare combination of someone who saw the need for conserving natu

*Helps students understand the difference of low versus high frequency responses. *Discusses the high-frequency behavior of common circuit components, including the behavior of resistors, capacitors, and inductors. *Presents RF Amplifier Designs, including small and large signal designs, narrow versus broad band, low noise, and many others. It also includes Discrete and Microstrip Line matching techniques with computer simulations*Presents Scattering parameterssuch as realistic listings of S-parameters for transistors and transmission line. *Provides students with useful broad-based knowledge of common amplifier designs used in the industry. This practical and comprehensive book introduces RF circuit design fundamentals with an emphasis on design methodologies. For upper-level Electrical Engineering introductory courses in RF Circuit Design and analog integratedcircuits. This includes line parameters, sources and load terminations, and voltage and current waves.* Outlines the need of distributed circuit theory in today's high frequency circuits. *All m-files will be included on a bound in CD-ROM. *Introduces the theory of distributed parameters through a discussion on Transmission Lines. *Provides MATLAB routines to carry out simple transmission line computations and allow the graphical display of the resulting impedance behaviors as part of the Smith Chart. *Provides design tools to enable students to develop a host of practically realizable filters. *I

This includes line parameters, sources and load terminations, and voltage and current waves.Outlines the need of distributed circuit theory in today's high frequency circuits.Analyzes active/passive RF circuits through various network description models, especially the two-port network. This discussion also covers impedance, admittance, ABCD, h-parameter networks, and interrelations.Includes a number of important pedagogical features—Intersperses examples throughout each chapter, and includes self-written MATLAB routines and circuit simulations by a commercial RF software package.Assists students by clarifying and explaining the theoretical developments..
