Entertainingly written, each page includes the common and Latin names of the flower, as well as a description. The beautiful colorful illustrations are helpful in learning to recognize and identify the flowers.This book and the previous versions of it have been on my recommended book list to my students for years.. Unfortunately the authors chose to use the old selective case study approach and padded it with figures and graphs which fail to fully articulate what the reader could have learned by a synthesis. This book ,2nd edition, is far superior to the 1st Editionthe pictures alone make it so much more interesting, and the text is outstanding.This covers all of Europe in detail. there is a useful editorial introduction, detailed endnotes and an exhaustive index included in the last volume.
