This world does not feel like there is one main race and everybody else is an "other". The most foolish statement I've ever heard from an adult is "children are so childish." Believe it or not you weren't born an adult, you were once a kid yourself. This was just what I wanted and didn't have to drive all over trying to find one at an airport.. The futuristic steam machines occupying a lot of space in the novel would be more to his liking. We expect other young animals (yes, we're mammals:) to act like young animals and accept that they will act that way, but adults want to drug our young adults if they don't act like grown adults. This is a great book, well written. I wish that there had been more background information on Ryan Adams as a person rather than secondhand accounts of his antics, which really don't get inside his head or even within shooting range. Oww! Oww! Owwwww! Sounds like someone has a stomachache.
