If you deviate from his diet, he is quick to understand and gently nudge you back onto the right path. Add the psychic nature of the characters (Arcane fare) PLUS throw-back names to her contemporary non-fantastical fiction (Eclipse Bay series) and you have a jolly romp for all Krentz/Quick/Castle lovers.Even without the easter eggs for long-time readers, the story is fun and the characters typically Castle quirky. She does this again and again, and each time she puts their lives at stake.Otherwise, the characters were interesting (loved Hakon!) and the author paints beautiful pictures with her descriptions. A little background checking helped me with the plot as I had not understood who the Steam Barons were and their importance and significance in Victorian London.We have then, a young woman, Evelina, who sets out to solve the mystery of a parlor maid's murder which takes place in the very mansion where she is staying as the guest of her beautiful and upper-class friend Imogene. This book describes it all. Also Little Edie was in her fifties, not sixty in the mid 1970s.One wonders how many other errors there are in this book, that I wouldn't pick up..
